Grafton Bearcub wrestlers strike a pose for the camera, and are all smiles after earning some new hardware.

GRAFTON— The Grafton Youth Wrestling Club spent some time on the road last weekend, traveling to Canfield, Ohio to take part in the Youngstown Spring Open on Saturday, April 10, before making their way to Moundsville, WV for the Marshall County Open on Sunday, April 11.

During the Youngstown Spring Open, Bearcub Ian Glaspell claimed victory on the mats and finished the day in second-place in the 10/12U 130/145 class.

Cubs Gaige Glover and Bryson Swaney also had a great showing in Canfield.

The Marshall County Open only saw four Grafton wrestlers participate, and all four went home with new hardware.

Glaspell, a force to be reckoned with on the wrestling mat, once again claimed the second-place finish in the 10U HWT division, while Rondo Koontz came away with third In the 10U 95/105 class.

Rounding out the winnings in Moundsville were Gaige Glover (6U 50) and Bryson Swaney (8U 55), who earned fourth-place finishes in their respective weight classes.

These two tournaments would be the group’s last before heading into Junior States in Parkersburg on May 8 and 9, where the club will wrap up their season.
