MORGANTOWN—Six home games and four Big 12 road dates comprise the new 2020 West Virginia University football schedule, which was released by WVU Athletic Director Shane Lyons on Wednesday.
The season opener will be on September 12th against Eastern Kentucky, WVU’s only nonconference opponent now that Florida State and Maryland have been wiped from the Mountaineers’ schedule.
West Virginia’s conference home dates are Baylor (10/3), Kansas (10/17), Kansas State (10/31), TCU (11/14) and Oklahoma (11/28).
Road conference games are Oklahoma State (9/26), Texas Tech (10/24), Texas (11/7), and Iowa State (12/5).
“When the Big 12 announced a revised 10-game season, we knew that the schedule would change and there would be some flexibility built in to handle any COVID-19 disruptions,” said Lyons. “This new schedule provides us with the nine league games, the one nonconference date, and the ability to plan accordingly.”
The Big 12 Conference championship game, which pits the top two regular-season finishers in the conference against each other, is scheduled for Saturday, December 12th, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX. That location will be the site of the game through at least 2021.
The WVU athletic program continues to work with local and state authorities regarding the plans for fan attendance at Milan Puskar Stadium this season. Once a final plan is determined, details will be shared with Mountaineer Athletic Club members and football season ticket holders.
