Women of a New Season:“We are called to trust!"

Romans 8: 28:  And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.  NKJV

Sometimes we are caught off guard in life by things that happen to us.  Our first inclination is to say, “Why me God?” If that happens to you try to learn not to ask.  My husband always said these things happen because it’s part of life, and sometimes life isn’t fair or just.  But God always is, don’t ever forget that.

We can’t understand why we lose a job, or don’t get the promotion we wanted, or perhaps we were dumped by someone we loved and we didn’t see it coming, so we get really depressed. And almost weekly we’ll be asked why this terrible stuff happens to God’s loving and faithful children?

This is not a trite answer, but it’s the truth as we read in the Word.  We live in a fallen world.  A fallen world is filled with haters, greedy people, cheats and those who lie.  It’s also filled with disease, war and violence. Sometimes we are the one it happens to.

Matthew 5: 45: …that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

So, an ungodly man who is cruel to his family may get the promotion you wanted and you are puzzled.  There is your answer. We can’t say why this sort of thing occurs, nor can we say why some are healed and some are not, but we can say, God’s ways are higher than ours, and at this point we have to understand as His children that we are called to trust.

My Heavenly Father is one I trust.  Do I ever doubt or fear?  Yes, I’m totally human, but I trust Him nonetheless.  He cares more for me than I can fathom. So, I trust Him.  I know my earthly father only wanted good for me, how much more then, does God want that goodness in my path.

It’s 1:30 in the morning as I’m writing this column. Just a little over four hours ago, at 9:06 pm, I sat in the hospital holding my husband’s hand as he passed into the arms of Jesus.  This man was my life and love on this earth. He was healthy, walked faithfully, yet, Covid-19 took him from me. God didn’t give my husband the disease, it came from a fallen world.  He chose not to heal my husband in this realm although he now has total healing and is in the presence of the God we both loved and served.

My heart is broken.  Our kid’s and grandkid’s hearts are broken, and yet, we trust Him. This one thing I can tell you.  I will continue to love and serve my Lord, for He is worthy, and also because my husband would want me too.  I’ll see him again one day, but I have to stay close to God to do that, and I fully intend to do so.

Now a word just for YOU.  My husband and I have been in ministry for 39 years in some form or another.  We’ve evangelized, pastored and done so many other things, but this I know, Jesus Christ is coming again soon. You have to be born-again to make that blessed hope, the Rapture of the church, or to go to heaven should you pass from this earthly realm.  I want that for you.  I want you to make heaven.  I want you to make the Rapture.  After it happens it’s too late.  If you think the earth looks bad now, just wait until the church, the Bride of Christ is removed.  There will be no restraint.  Please, go to church next Sunday.  Get in a good Bible teaching, believing church.  Come unto Jesus!  Until next time!
