Ecclesiastes 3: 4: A time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.
Well, here we are on the cusp of a new year. 2021. We can finally be rid of 2020. We usually celebrate the New Year, but this year we may celebrate the exit of an old year. You do know however; that a year is only a number. 2020 wasn’t a good year. Let’s be honest. However, God was good through it all. He is good! All the time!
The next time I write a column it will be in the New Year. I’m excited, every new year holds the promise of better times to come. We are having a New Year’s Celebration at New Season on December 31 at 7 pm. We will be teaching on the upcoming year according to Jewish and Christian prophecy.
2020 was the Jewish year of 5780. A new year AND a new decade. 5780 was “the year of the mouth.” Psalm 81: 10: “ I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt; open your mouth wide and I will fill it.” You know in the midst of chaos, illness and loss for God’s people, I have seen this come to pass. I have seen my sisters in Christ open their mouths and tell of God’s glory. Going live on Facebook, and in writing’s and public speaking. I am so proud of them. I have heard others whom I don’t know lifting up the name of the Lord, carrying His name to the nations. They didn’t know it was the year to “speak” of Him, they were just led of the Spirit of God to do so.
The new Jewish year started on September 18th at the beginning of Rosh Hashanah. Our new year comes in at midnight on December 31. The whole decade for the 5780’s on the Jewish calendar is about the mouth. So, God will want His people to continue spreading the news of His glory. However, like 2020 with Covid-19, and other issues, 2021 will be tumultuous and triumphant.
Every year we seek God for insight in what may be on the horizon. I am still praying and seeking God for His instruction for the new year. This I do know. This year He wants His people to draw close to Him, closer than they’ve ever been. The by-product of that will be opening our mouths and sharing our love for Him, along with sharing the wonderful things He has done for us.
No, I cannot tell you what the year holds for us specifically, but I do know His heart. He is coming soon and He is preparing His bride. We, the church, are the bride of Christ. He is not coming for a soiled, spoiled, shallow bride. He wants you to know Him. He wants you to spend time with Him. Read His word. That’s how you get to know Him.
We had a beautiful candlelight service celebrating His birth. New Year’s Eve we will celebrate the beginning of a new adventure in following Him. Get on board. Make your main resolution this year to draw closer to Him. Losing weight is great, getting in better shape is great. Spending more time with family, putting more effort into our jobs, are all good resolutions, but if we strive to draw closer to Him, our lives will change for the better in every way. God bless you all, and have a marvelous and Happy New Year. Feel free to join us New Year’s Eve at 7 pm. Come celebrate with us. Until next time!
Call 304-677-9220 for more info. The service will only last about an hour. See you there.
