John 3: 29: He that hath the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice; this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
Today is a joyful day for our family. My granddaughter Andrea became engaged. Her boyfriend, Jose’ took her to a house they had chosen to buy, to sign papers. (She knew they were going to get married, but they hadn’t formally become engaged, because he wanted to do it up right, and naturally Covid has interfered, so they chose a house anyway).
As she signed her share of the papers one looked rather different. It was a marriage contract. No, it wasn’t a prenup. It was a document full of love and plans for the future. He had already signed it and when she realized what it was, there in front of the real estate people, she turned to see Jose’ on his knee with a ring in hand. She ran to him and he said, “Sign that first.” She did, then he proposed and naturally she accepted. Our family is very happy. Andrea is one of our twin granddaughters and we all love Jose’.
As I watched the video of her signing the paper to accept his proposal and live in that house happily and grow old together and so much more, I thought how wonderful this is. Then I thought, gee, our bridegroom gave us something similar in writing.
New life in new home, happiness, growing old together. That’s Jose’s version. Jesus’ version is, new life, eternal, in new home. In my Father’s house are many mansions, I go to prepare a place for you.
Jose’ said, “I value you and will put you first.” Jesus said he loves us enough that he died for us. Jose’ said, “dreams coming true.” Us with Jesus in Heaven is a dream coming true. Jose’ said, marriage ceremony and wedding cake. Jesus says he is our bridegroom and there will be a wedding supper of the Lamb.
Andrea signed a paper accepting Jose’s proposal. Will you accept Jesus’ proposal by signing your love for Him by accepting Him into your heart for salvation? No matter your age, you too will have a wedding ceremony and supper with a great bridegroom.
Jose’ had Jeremiah 29:11 engraved in Andrea’s ring. Jesus’ has engraved eternity in our hearts. Until next time!
