Women of a New Season "True North"

Hebrews 13: 8: Jesus Christ the same, yesterday and today and forever.

The expression True North is based on a fact that navigators and surveyors must deal with every day.  Short explanation: a magnetic compass is not a terribly reliable instrument. It points toward the magnetic north pole, which is not the same as the geographic or geodetic north pole.  It can be a difference of several hundred miles.  The magnetic pole drifts several miles a year. True north is unchanging.

We must learn to live our lives with Jesus Christ as our True North.  He never varies or changes.  World culture and customs change, ideologies change, but He remains steadfast.

True north to a magnetic compass can be thrown off by metallic objects or electrical equipment. Auxiliary magnets must be used to find the true north.

Just as things on the earth can draw and move a magnetic compass, so we can be moved and drawn by things around us, unless we are steadfast in our True North. Just as a compass must be.  We also have to calibrate our lives as the compass must be calibrated.  We do this by reading the Word of God.

If you are lost in a forest of ever- changing terrain, or a desert of ever shifting sands, your only way home is a compass capable of finding true north.  If you are lost in a wilderness of booze, partying and wandering further and further from God, you need the compass of a True North in your soul.  His name is Jesus.

Your true north spiritually is simply your core values.  The basic fundamental beliefs you have. If you don’t have these basic values you will drift aimlessly in a world of confusion and upheaval.

Ephesians 5: 3-4: Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you.  Such sins have no place among God’s people.  Obscene stories, foolish talk and coarse jokes, these are not for you.  Instead, let there be thankfulness to God. NLT

This is a good example of core values, and True North. God never tells us anything to harm us, only things to help us.

We are in a wild, dangerous and unstable world.  Things are trying to draw us away from God and our eventual home in Heaven, with eternal life. Our only chance is to stay in tune with our True North. Jesus Christ. He will never leave nor forsake us.

James 1: 17: Every good and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. NKJV

So, I look forward to seeing you on this journey we are living daily.  I pray none of us will get lost or pulled off track.  Hang onto your True North, Jesus Christ, and I will see you on the other side.  Until next time!
