Women of a New Season: The mirror of God’s word

Isaiah 57: 1-6:  The righteous perishes, and no man takes it to heart.  Merciful men are taken away. While no one considers that the righteous is taken away from evil.

He shall enter into peace; they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.

But come here, You sons of the sorceress, you, offspring of the adulterer and his harlot!

Whom do you ridicule?  Against whom do you make a wide mouth and stick out the tongue? Are you not children of transgression?  Offspring of falsehood?

Inflaming yourselves with gods under every green tree. Slaying the children in the valleys, under the clefts of the rocks?

Among the smooth stones of the stream is your portion.  They, they are your lot! Even to them you have poured a drink offering, you have offered a grain offering, Should I receive comfort in these?

As we read God’s word, we can see what was happening in those days.  But we also need to look at the same word and see if it applies to us.

That first verse talks about the righteous perishing and no one pays attention.  Think of the attacks on folks on city streets, in subways and even in stores.  We see it on the news and say, “Oh my, how can this be?” If they are upright in God they will have passed into their rest.   But it isn’t safe to walk in the freedom we once had.

Then he says, come here sons of the sorceress, offspring of the adulterer and his harlot.  This is addressing spiritual adultery.  Being unfaithful to God, by turning to other “gods” and walking into the darkness of the occult.  This is overrunning our country and our world.  We must wake up and begin to see beyond our own political druthers and concentrate on getting our lives aligned with God.

People out there are sticking their tongues out like a five-year old in the schoolyard, toward anyone who disagrees with them.  They shake their fist in the face of Almighty God saying, “We will do it our way, not yours!”

They inflame themselves with sensual worship of dark forces, under green trees.  (Believed to be a representative of favored worship in witchcraft, etc.).  They kill children in the valleys, hidden in the cleft of the rocks.  This was in worship of Molech, today we do it in the cities in the clefts of sterile tables and implements of abortion.

The smooth stones of the streams shows that the harlotry against God is no longer kept in secret but boldly proclaimed before all mankind.  They make their offerings like those of drink offerings or grain offerings openly to their false gods, their idols. They make videos showing with pride their sin and complete departure from all things of God.  They show dark ceremonies in order to recruit hurting seekers into the dark abyss of mortal damnation.  They display flags with pride waving in the wind inviting others to join their sin and perversion.

We are living in tough times Christians.  What are you going to do?  As you look in the mirror of God’s word at your life, do you like what you see?  Or maybe your reflection shows that you are on the right path, but need to become more active in winning others for Christ?  Fear not little flock.  It’s a scary time in history, but God trusted us to be here, at this time, in this place.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5: 16).  Until next time!
