Nehemiah2:2: Therefore, the king said to me, “Why is your face sad, since you are not sick? This is nothing but sorrow of heart.”
With the aftermath of Covid, and the sorry state of affairs in our nation, people are really feeling down. So many have lost loved-ones in the pandemic, and they’ve lost themselves with all the isolation and things which have transpired.
My husband and I spent many years studying spiritual warfare. I had a great mentor who taught me many truths about the spiritual realm. I want you to know that we are in an all out war for our way of life and more importantly, our very souls.
There is a spirit of heaviness across our land and even our world, that is more destructive than the pandemic. When people lose hope, they lose the will to be and do, and yes, even live. The spirit of heaviness is a strongman among evil spirits and beneath him are many other spirits. To name a few: Excessive Mourning; sorrow-grief; self-pity; insomnia; broken-heart; despair-dejection; depression; suicidal thoughts; inner hurts, torn spirit; heaviness.
The little song we sing says, “Put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.” This is vital. We must sing and praise the Lord. For God inhabits the praises of His people.
We live in a fallen world, so we will have to contend with many of the by-products of that world. Sin is abounding. The things we hear on the news, the articles we read about all the various acts of violence, destruction and plain foolishness, is enough to put anyone in a state of depression. But, we cannot and must not give in to that lure of destruction. This is a spiritual battle and the enemy is out to destroy.
John 10:10: The enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy, but I have come that you might have life and life more abundantly.
When Satan was booted out of Heaven, he took one-third of the angels, (now fallen angels) with him. Guess what, I’m no math whiz, but I believe that leaves two-thirds on our team. I hate to be trite, but we win, read the back of the book.
So, come on, get up, dust yourself off, put a smile on your face, find someone to bless and start living again. I lost my husband to Covid. My lover, my best friend, my sweetheart, my ministry partner, my spiritual covering and protector. I love him still, with all my heart, but I can’t lay down and give up. He wouldn’t expect that of me. I won’t let him down, and I won’t let Jesus down.
Jesus said: Luke 4: 18-19: The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor, He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind. To set at liberty those who are oppressed. To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.
That’s the mandate for Jesus, it’s also my mandate and yours. We have to help those who are too far down to help themselves. Another little song says: “Shake off those heavy bands, lift up those holy hands, let all God’s people praise the Lord.”
Let’s help someone shake off those heavy bands. Praise the Lord! Until next time!
