Women of a New Season: Revival or spiritual awakening?

Revelation 2: 4-5:  I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen, repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.
Someone taught once that in this verse we can see the 3 R’s of Revival.  The first is Remember. Was your faith once stronger, were you living closer to God than you are now? If so, make note of that. Secondly, Repent, change your direction. Stop the things you are doing that you know are not pleasing to God. And thirdly, Repeat. Do the things you used to do. Remember you made note of from where you have fallen.  That’s revival.  A cold soul/heart, coming back to life in Christ.
It’s different from an Awakening.  We in this nation need both.  Back in the late 60’s and early 70’s, our nation was in chaos, similar to now, only these days seem far worse.  We need an awakening.  We had one then.  I still see fruits of it to this day.  Actually, my husband and I were saved during that “Jesus Movement” as it was called.  An Awakening, impacts a culture.  Many Hippies were saved during the Jesus Movement.  We weren’t Hippies, but we sure weren’t godly.
The words Revival and Awakening are often used interchangeably, but there is a distinction.  An Awakening is when God pours out His Spirit and impacts a culture, but a Revival on the other hand is when a church comes back to life. When it returns to its passion. A revival will put something back to its original condition and an awakening will change the outward culture.
God had been pulling on me for about ten years before I got saved.  I was searching. I almost got into Eastern religion, but “something” stopped me.  Looking back, I realize that something, was actually someone, Holy Spirit.  I tried to read the Bible to no avail.  I read other books but nothing seemed to work. Three years into my quest for “something” I moved to Europe. I was in a dying marriage and failed miserably at trying to fix it.  I asked that our whole family go to church as soon as we were back stateside. But instead, I was put into a position to get a divorce. Now living back in my hometown as a single mom, I forgot my quest of spiritual things and just tried to survive financially. During this time frame, I was three years away from the end of my quest.  Of course, I didn’t know it. I met and married my husband two years away from my quest being fulfilled. Then after being married two years, we were swept up into the Jesus Movement.  We weren’t looking for it.  Oh, we had started attending church, but didn’t know Jesus. But one night, we were led to the Lord by my husband’s first cousin and our lives did a 180.  We’ve never looked back.  Forty-three years of marriage and forty-one years of serving Christ.  God is good.
So, trust me when I tell you, we need Revival in our nation.  And we need an Awakening.  There is an Awakening sweeping our nation right now, very similar to the one in the 70’s.  When you feel that pull, whatever you do, don’t refuse it.  When you feel drawn to Jesus, give in.  When you notice that no matter where you turn someone is talking about the Lord, or you hear something about God, or you pass by a certain church and think perhaps you should go sometime.  Well, now is the sometime.  Jesus is coming soon and you do not want to be on the outside of this sweeping pull.  Keep your eyes and ears open, God is searching for you this very moment.  He wants you to come to Him.  Please don’t hesitate to call me if you want to talk or ask questions.  Until next time!
