Ecclesiastes 3: 11: He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.
Did you ever wonder about nurture? It’s the process of caring for or encouraging the growth or development of something or someone. For a great example, watch a mom with her young children. Women are born to nurture. It’s built in. Of course, as in all things there are aberrant behaviors that occur in people from time to time, even mothers.
In this aberrant year of 2020, we have certainly seen a departure from the accepted standard, of what a normal year should hold. But, in the midst of the current chaos of isolation, riots, political upheaval and confusion, one thing remains true. God’s holy word.
The world we are living in right now is different from what we are used to. People are locked away, wearing masks, and mourning the loss of life’s great joys. Visiting grandma in the nursing home, or going to dinner with friends as we once did. Even our Thanksgiving gatherings are modified for the “new normal.”
So, you ladies that are reading this, listen up! God is speaking to you. He created you as a nurturing being. There are those out there who need you. Your gentleness is needed. There are neighbors and friends who are depressed, some are despondent. They need a kind word, a soft touch and a warm smile. That’s you ladies. You have all those things.
I Thessalonians 2: 7-8: But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children. So, affectionately longing for you, we were well pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God, but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us.
You may be thinking, but what can I do? I’m not a Bible teacher. Maybe not, but you are a woman, and you know how to nurture. The Lord placed a blueprint for this in the following verse.
Titus 2: 4-5: …admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good and obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed. (God doesn’t want our behavior, as claiming to be Christians, to bring reproach upon His name).
There are women out there who need our help. Your child rearing tips, the lessons you’ve learned to keep your marriage on track, they need to hear it, from YOU. So, call that neighbor and check in on her. Contact that lady who has been missing church. Say a friendly word to the lady in line, even if she is 6 feet ahead of you.
Open that little box of feminine treasures that God has given you. The one where you know how to smile and interact with people. Use it to lift up one of your own kind. A female. God is calling His daughters to rise up and begin to whisper His name to others. As we join together in the whisper it will become a roar that will be heard around the world and into the heavenlies. Nurture baby! You’ve got what it takes, and you have what others need. Until next time!
