II Timothy 2: 15:  Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

The Bible is the key to your knowledge of God. It holds within its hallowed pages the answers to all life’s questions, the map for your journey through this life, the words of comfort when you’re hurting, the way to escape a bad situation, and the key to finding your purpose.

It won’t do you a bit of good though if you place it on your coffee table and only dust it off when you clean your house. You have to open it daily.  It is God’s will for your life within those pages. It’s His Testament to you. You will find in there the provisions needed for your life. It will help you raise your children, show you how to treat your neighbor, your most cherished loved ones, and your enemies.

Whether you are a new Christian, or an old hand that has been saved 50 years, you will always learn something in that book that helps you.

We are living in the last days. Sit down today and watch the news. Really pay attention and you’ll see that we are in big trouble. Now is when you need to get back into the Bible, or get into it for the first time.  Things around us are culminating at warp speed.  We are about to see the Grand Finale! The only problem is, if you don’t know Jesus, and aren’t living for him, you will have no comfort. If you belong to him you will be okay.  But, you need to get into that book, the Bible, in order to understand what is happening and what will happen next.

Remember the little tune you sang in Vacation Bible School, “Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so?” It’s true, he does love us. He has a plan in place to take care of us. It’s all in the book.

So, this week I encourage you to get a version of the Bible you find easy to read, and begin by reading one chapter a day.  Make a commitment to that. Then let me hear about it as you go along.  Once you do this faithfully for a short time, it becomes a good habit, one that’s easy to keep. Until next time!
