Proverbs 28: 1: The wicked flee when no one pursues but the righteous are bold as a lion. NKJV
“Though she be but little, she is fierce.” William Shakespeare. From: A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
You’ve met her haven’t you, the gal who gets ferocious when someone hurts her child? No one messes with mama bear’s kids. It’s born into moms to protect their kids to the death. God made us that way. Notwithstanding, there are aberrant mothers out there who hurt their own children. But, we aren’t talking about them.
Women as a whole can really surprise you when it comes to being fierce. As I’ve mentioned before, I just finished a book titled, Follow the River, which is the story of one fierce and very wise woman who had been taken captive by Indians in 1755. It’s a true story about a woman who follows the New River to get back to her family. She was fierce. Only a woman with true grit could battle the elements as she did.
As my mind brings up the faces of some of my good friends, I see fierce women. One widowed at a young age, a couple more not only widowed, but have lost children, still others who overcame addictions, disease and hard circumstances. One young woman shoots a rifle, rides horses, home schools her kids and boils down her own Maple syrup. We jokingly call her pioneer woman. Still another is a beautiful singer, hard worker and constantly helping others. Yet another is a horsewoman extraordinaire, works like a rancher and holds down a high powered job. How about the new mom starting a new career in medicine? She’s doing it all on mom-sleep, which is to say little or none. Or maybe the expectant mom who prayed and prayed until God met her need for a child. I could go on and on. These are real women, my friends and they are FIERCE.
Our women’s group at the church is called SHE, and we will be starting a new Bible study one Friday evening a month called FIERCE. We want to invite any and all ladies to join us.
God already has His warrior daughters in place, He just wants us to hone our skills a little because we are living in the last days, and He is going to use us to bring forth attention to His Kingdom and His great love and mercy.
Join us for the kickoff sermon on this subject on March 15th at 10:30 am, when I teach on Follow the River. Please join us. Follow us on Face Book at New Season Assembly of God, or my own Face Book page.
If you feel a little apprehensive about the last days and the things happening in our world and right here in our own community, this kickoff message Follow the River, and the upcoming Bible study, Fierce, are for you. You’ve got what it takes for God to use you. Just give Him a chance to unveil it in your life. Until next time!
