Women of a New Season: Don’t let change throw your off course

Romans 12: 2: And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

Changes come in all shapes and sizes.  A friend and I went to a revival service at a church the other night, and the evangelist, a very dynamic man, couldn’t come because he had gotten sick.  We were of course disappointed, but the man who preached had a wonderful message and it was a good service.  We need to learn to roll with the punches that change throws at us.

People get upset over little changes, like the evangelist not being able to come, or a detour on the highway that takes us out of our way. These things happen and although inconvenient, aren’t necessarily life changing.  Some changes occur that are life changing, a severe illness, the death of a precious loved one, the loss of a job, God has created us to handle what comes our way. I Corinthians 10:13:  There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape that ye may be able to bear it.

When change comes our way, we may be tempted to throw a fit or strike out at someone.  Road rage is an example of this. But God has promised us that we can get through the chaos of change by trusting Him.

In the past few months, I’ve had numerous changes come into my life.  Some of them were the kind that knock you off your feet. But the Lord has been with me every step of the way and has kept me on my feet and on the path that He has chosen for me. As it says in Psalms, His Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119: 105).

That old saying, “Don’t sweat the small stuff,” is right on.  There is enough big stuff out there to keep you busy.  But, large or small, trust God to see you through it. He will.  Until next time!
