Judges 6: 12: And the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and said, “The Lord is with you, O mighty man of valor.”
Gideon was afraid to do what God was calling him to. At the time the angel visits him, he is in the winepress threshing wheat. It was being done in hiding to protect it from the enemy. You will enjoy reading this chapter, so please take the time to do so. Don’t be too hard on Gideon, aren’t you at least a little bit afraid in the day we are living?
Take a look at the latter part of Romans 4: 17: he believed God who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did. Gideon became a mighty man of valor because he trusted God. This is talking about Abraham. But God called Gideon mighty before he was. You are being called something good by God before you realize it’s what you are.
I’m on a site for pastor’s wives, because even though I am a pastor, I am also a pastor’s wife. One of the ladies said she hid for years in the nursery, and now hides in the media room in order to avoid public speaking because she’s scared to do it. Well, I’ll admit, it’s a bit scary. So, I encouraged her about Gideon. But I started thinking, you don’t have to be a pastor’s wife to be afraid to speak to others about God. You can be a housewife, doctor, cab driver, nurse, or even a teacher, and be afraid.
So, I figured there are some gals (and guys too), who read this column who are hiding out in the winepress, feeling a bit, or even a lot fearful.
Let me encourage you. You are alive and breathing because God chose for you to be here on earth, in this place, at this time, for a reason. (Acts 17: 26). You may think the world is scary, and it is, but He trusted YOU and me, to be here at this time, for a specific purpose. Shame on us if we miss it due to fear.
Like Esther, we are here for such a time as this. To you guys reading this, YOU are mighty men of valor. Act like it. Be bold for God. And ladies, time is very short. Come out of your place of hiding. Someone needs your voice, your words, your love.
God is moving. So, all you beautiful Esthers out there, rise up! This is your time. I teach this all the time. Come out of the nursery, the media room or your living room. Get into a good Bible teaching church. Learn what God has for you. Lift your heads, open your mouths, with love and wisdom, tell someone about Jesus.
Remember someone out there needs YOU and what you can say to help them. Until next time!
