Woman of the Most High God: What happened to being thankful?

Today people aren’t thankful for anything. They think it is owed to them, and our country has made them that way. When’s the last time you thanked God for the very breath you are able to take in? We can’t give ourselves another breath.

What about your health? What about your jobs? Your food and your clothes? What about your family? Are you thankful for them?

I thank God every day for my brothers and my sisters, my niece, my nephew, my sisters-in-law and my brothers-in-law. I love them with everything that is within me. I thank God for my church family, and I thank him for my salvation. I once was lost, but now I’m found.

I thank God for a mother who told us about Jesus. She lived a Godly life before her children. She prayed for us and with us. She took us to church every Sunday morning, every Sunday night and Wednesday for Bible Study.

She was a thankful woman who loved God. We can sing the song to Jesus, “How Great Thou Art,” and mean it from the inner parts of our heart. Just think about that song. Count your many blessings, name them one by one.

I’m surely a blessed person. God has been so good to me. He watches over me. He never sleeps. He will never leave nor forsake you. He is a faithful God.

I thank him for the little things in my life. That includes my little dog, Smokie. I’m thankful for him, too. Jesus supplies my every need. I’m not hungry. I’m not cold. I have a good place to sleep, a roof over my head.

The psalmist David said to give thanks in all things. Bless the Lord O my soul and all that is within me. David said his praise shall continually be in our mouths. God is a good God, and he is worthy to be praised. No one can do you like Jesus can.

Happy Thanksgiving! Be sure to stop and say thank you Lord for your blessings on me. Truly, my friend, I’m blessed, and I give God all the praise.

Yours in Christ Jesus,

Rev. Teresa Reid
