Woman of the Most High God: What does God require of you?

In the Bible, in the book of Micah, it tells us what God requires of us. Yes, God does require something of us. Micah 6:8 tells us God requires us to do justly, love mercifully, and to walk humbly with God. (Is 57:15, Hosea 6:6).

Who is Jesus? Isaiah 57:15 tells us that he is the high and lofty one period he lives forever whose name is holy. He is the exalted one. He is one with a contrite and lowly in spirit. We are to be ever as Christ.

The Bible tells us to be holy even as Christ is holy (Leviticus 20:7). And Leviticus 18:5 says ye shall keep my statutes and my judgments and do them (his laws). He is the Lord that sanctifies you (Hosea 6:6).

God desires mercy and not sacrifices, the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. We are to love the Lord my God with all of our hearts, minds, souls, and love our neighbors as we love ourselves with all of our strength (Mark 12:30-31). This verse tells us to love him with all our heart, our understanding, all that soul, and strength. There is no greater commandment than these.

We must give Christ our whole being. We do not belong to ourselves. We are bought with a price. The precious blood of Jesus Christ. We are to present our bodies as living sacrifices. Holy, acceptable unto God which is our reasonable service (Romans 12:1).

Notice it says our reasonable service. We cannot thank ourselves better than others. We are all created in God’s image. we are brothers and sisters in Christ.

God is good to all of us. He doesn’t love one more than another period you are precious in his sight. What will happen to us if we don’t do what God’s word tells us to do? The Bible tells us that there is a heaven to gain in a hell to shun. God doesn’t send you to hell. He is not willing that any perish, but that all come to repentance. You have to make the choice.

It’s up to you. He gave his life for you. Only the fool has said there is no God. Look at the story of Lazarus in the rich man. Look at the other rich man who told Jesus he had kept the commandments since his youth. Jesus told him to go sell that which he had and give it to the poor. But he went away sorrowful. Jesus said it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of heaven. You are not smarter than God. His ways are so much higher than yours.

Yes, God does require something of you- your heart, mind, soul and your strength. Will you surrender all these things to God today? We are to serve the Lord with our lives. God created you for his pleasure. What will you do with Jesus today? Calling him today! He will have the last word.

Yours in Christ Jesus,

Rev. Teresa Reid
