Woman arrested after concealing minor in state’s care

16-year-old had fled Genesis Center

GRAFTON—One woman is behind bars, following an investigation the past week.

Jaymi McIe, 34, of Grafton, has been charged with felony concealment of a minor child from a custodian, following an investigation and search on October 3.

According to a police report filed by an officer with the Grafton City Police Department, the department received information that a 16-year-old male was staying at McIe’s residence, after he was placed in the custody of the state and was remanded to the Genisis facility in Clarksburg.

The report states that the male had left the facility and was on the run. Because of a Facebook post with a picture of the boy and his girlfriend, police had reason to believe he was at McIe’s residence.

A search warrant was obtained by the officer, and a search of the residence was conducted in the morning hours, on October 3. Upon showing up at the house, McIe told officers that the minor was sleeping in one of the bedrooms of the home.

The bedroom where he was sleeping was that of the male’s girlfriend, a 12-year-old female. The minor male was taken into custody and turned over to Child Protective Services, according to the complaint.

McIe was taken into custody and invoked her right to council, refusing to be interviewed, but not before she told officers that she was aware of the minor’s placement in the Genesis Center.

McIe was processed and transported to the Tygart Valley Regional Jail, where she was being held on a $7,500 cash or surety bond.
