West Virginia Poison Center announces return of poster contest

TAYLOR COUNTY—Are you a creative mind in kindergarten through 12th grade? The West Virginia Poison Control Center is hosting a poster contest and is seeking youths to help create awareness of poisons and, in turn, save lives.

To be eligible for the contest, youths must be residents of West Virginia within the designated age ranges. In addition, parents or legal guardians must sign an artwork release form.

Participants will be tasked with creating an 8.5x11 inch poster with a focus on poison prevention. Each entry must include the West Virginia Poison Control number, 1-800-222-1222.

Suggested theme ideas include Mr. Yuk is for everyone, how to stay poison safe and poisonings in the home.

Entries will have to be submitted before Monday, October 3. Youths may submit in two ways, by mailing their entry to West Virginia Poison Control Center, 3110 MacCorkle Ave., S.E. Charleston, WV 25304 or by emailing them to [email protected].

Submitted pieces will be judged by poison center staff and members of collaborating organizations, and winners will be announced on the West Virginia Poison Center website on Monday, October 17.
