Vera Catherine Litzinger Duckworth, 85 of Grafton passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Mon General Hospital, with her loving family by her side.
She was born on April 16, 1932 in Grafton, daughter of the late Charles A. and Rose Mary Barlow Litzinger. Vera will be deeply missed by her husband of sixty one years, Robert Lee Duckworth whom she married August 14, 1955
She graduated from St. Augustine Catholic High School, Class of 1949. Vera began her years in the Taylor County educational system 26 years ago as a Special Education Aide where she worked for over eight years. She then spent five years as a secretary before becoming a Kindergarten Aide. She was a lifelong member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church and was a member of the Women’s Guild. She loved being with her family, boating, watching birds, and her flowers.
Vera is survived by one daughter, Mary LeAnn “Mimi” Jones and husband Mark, Morgantown, two sons, Charles “Chuck” Duckworth and wife Rhonda, and Robert “Bob” Duckworth and wife Vicki both of Grafton; six grandchildren, Jeremy Duckworth and wife Shaela, Grafton, Adrienne Duckworth and husband Chris Isabella, Morgantown, Alison Duckworth and companion Tyler McHenry, Grafton, Matthew Shaffer, Ladson, SC, Mark Shaffer and wife Amanda Morgantown, and Ian Duckworth, Grafton; three great grandchildren, Avery and Emari Duckworth, and Maverick Shaffer; two sisters, Carolee Johns and husband Jerry , Grafton, and Dorothy “Dot” Helsel and husband Jim, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Robert Litzinger, Dennis Litzinger, Charles Litzinger, Donald Litzinger, John Litzinger, Richard Litzinger; three sisters, Mary Jo Gordon, Charlotte Thayer, and Sue Ann George.
Friends will be received at Bartlett Funeral Home 202 McGraw Ave. on Monday, July 3, 2017 from 2-8PM. A Christian Wake Service will be held Monday, July 3, 2017 at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at 10:00AM at the St. Augustine Catholic Church, with Father Jim O’Connor as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
