Varsity Knights hold on to claim victory

PRUNTYTOWN— The TCMS Lady Knights Basketball program split the difference in play this week as the Elkins Hornets traveled to Pruntytown to take on the Lady Knights.

The JV team was unsuccessful in their outing against the Hornets. The Hornets brought a great defense with them to help shut down the JV Lady Knights and hold them to just eight points on the night.

Ashlynne Boyard scored six points for the struggling Knights and Kaylee Cross added an additional two points to end the game with a 33 -8 final score.

“We have a strong team but we were just outplayed tonight. We have to make better passes and spread out our defense more,” head coach Kelley Larew explained.

The JV Lady Knights will had a chance at redemption later in the week as they play at home against the East Fairmont Bees yesterday.

The Lady Knights Varsity came out victorious with a squeaker against the Elkins Hornets.

In a fast-paced defensive battle the Knights held on to claim victory in a well fought game.

“It was a good team effort. That was a good team we beat. We struggled offensively in the game but got a few stops down the stretch when we needed to,” head coach Bobby Beltner explained.

The intense game never saw the Knights drop the lead, but the Hornets were always nipping at their heels as the game went down to the wire.

Hadley Horne led the Lady Knights with eleven points on the nights with Anna Harbison laying in five points of her own.

The final score was the Lady Knights 20 and the Elkins Hornets 17.
