Update from Taylor County Superintendent

March 19, 2020

Dear Students and Families,

We have entered a new phase in our efforts to continue to keep staff, students and families safe. Our number one priority is to make sure we continue our efforts to provide meals to those of you needing support. We have asked all employees to begin working from home today and are using one site to distribute and prepare meals to deliver. Limited staff is available at the board office if you should need assistance. The number to call is (304) 265-2497.

Friday, March 20th we will be delivering learning packets and backpack program food for those that participate. The learning packets are from your child’s teachers and contain all the information for successful completion. We will not be picking Ice Packs or learning packets up but want to provide activities for your child to continue learning while our schools are closed. We will let you know how we will collect those when we have a firm date of returning to school. Weekly calls updating the superintendent are taking place and we will continue to use the website and messenger to communicate changes with our staff and families.

The Taylor County Board of Education and staff want to remind you to continue to increase your attention to hand washing, coughing and sneezing into your elbow and practice social distancing. We are here to support you and answer questions you may have during our closure. Stay safe and aware during this time combating COVID-19.

Christy Miller
Superintendent
