Today, Wednesday, September 8, the Taylor County Middle School (TCMS) Knights football team will be in action at McKinney Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and fans are asked to wear tie dye in remembrance of former football Knight Tyler Poston.
Also happening today, Lady Bearcat volleyball team will be taking on Liberty, and the Grafton High School (GHS) golf team will be taking to the greens of Tygart Lake Public Golf Course, hosting a home tournament and the TCMS XC team will also be hosting their first and only home meet of the season at West Taylor Elementary, slated to begin at 5:45 p.m.
Then, on Thursday, September 9, both the Bearcats and Lady Bearcats soccer teams will be at home in contests with Buckhannon-Upshur. The Ladies will get things started for the evening at 6:00 p.m., and the boys kickoff at 8:00 p.m.
Rounding out the week of action for Taylor County Sports, the GHS Football team will play their home opener under the lights of McKinney Field on Friday, September 10 against Lincoln. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. and fans are asked to come decked out on red, white and blue, as the team pay tribute to the 13 fallen service members, those who lost their lives on 9/11/01 and to all the heroes of our country.
The Lady Knights volleyball squad will also be in action on Friday, at home against Elkins at 6:00 p.m.
Over the weekend the Lady Bearcats soccer team will compete again on Saturday, September 11, as they travel to Charleston Catholic.
Both of our area XC teams, GHS and TCMS, will make the trip to Mineral Wells to take part in the Chic-fil-A Classic meet on Saturday, September 11, as well.
And Taylor County Youth Football Peewee Bearcubs will be at home on Saturday, playing against Tygart’s Valley at 7:00 p.m.
