GRAFTON— Week three of West Virginia Governor Jim Justice’s strategic plan, West Virginia Strong- The Comeback came on Thursday, May 14, and included the announcement that fitness centers, gymnasiums and recreation centers would be permitted to resume operations, with limitations.
These facilities were allowed to reopen on Monday, May 18, provided that all additional guidelines are being followed to help keep their patrons and all West Virginians as safe as possible.
Following the release from the governor, the Grafton City Hospital Tygart Valley Rehabilitation and Fitness Center announced their own plan for reopening their doors.
Starting on Tuesday, May 19, the center began allowing patrons into the facility with a new set of guidelines and new temporary hours of operation in place.
The center will be open Monday through Friday from 5:00- 9:00 a.m., and will reopen for the evening, between the hours of 4:00-8:00 p.m.
Additionally, Tygart Valley Fitness will be offering weekend hours on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. until noon. “We’ve worked together to manage the COVID-19. Now, together, we need to get back to work keeping you healthy. Grafton City Hospital, and the Mon Health System, is ready with strong safety protocols. Out rehabilitation and fitness center is safe and clean to the highest standards to mitigate the spread of germs and infection,” the recent press release read.
In order to remain in ordinance with the social distancing guidelines that continue to be in place, the center is limiting the number of clients that will be permitted into the building at once to nine, and are asking those entering the gym to wear a mask at all times.
Employees of the center also shared that the equipment has been situated to be six feet apart. With the help of staff, patrons are being asked to clean the equipment after using.
As part of Governor Jim Justice’s plan to allow fitness centers to resume business, the Tygart Valley Rehabilitation and Fitness Center also noted that while restrooms will be available for use, the showers and lockers will remain closed for the time being.
Furthermore, due to patron limitations, the center is suggesting that those exercising limit their workouts to 60 minutes, and that those wishing to workout should call ahead for an approximate wait time.
For any questions or concerns, you have reach the Tygart Valley Rehabilitation and Fitness Center by calling 304-265-2191.
If you have a fever, couch, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, or have been exposed to COVID-19, it is strongly recommended that you do not go to the center, but rather call Grafton City Hospital at 304-265-0400 for further instructions.
“We just encourage you, again, to follow these guidelines as strictly as possible to try to keep everyone safe,” Gov. Justice said.
