TAYLOR COUNTY— Spring will be here next week, and before long, Tygart Lake State Park will be filled with guests. To help accommodate those guests, the park will be holding a Job Fair next weekend, to help fill many open positions.
Park Naturalist and Park Activities Coordinator Jacob Jackson shared that they have many seasonal and part-time positions they are looking to fill.
“The Job Fair will be a great opportunity to allow folks that are interested to come out,” shared Jackson. “The fair will be held two days, and we will be here to meet potential candidates and answer questions.”
Applicants are encouraged to come to the Job Fair Open House at the Park Lodge Conference Room on Friday, March 22, from 4:00-6:00 p.m., and Saturday, March 23, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, to meet and discuss positions and to fill out applications.
There are many positions available including Housekeeping, Park Maintenance Worker, Lodge Front Desk Clerk, Beach Area Attendant and Summer Park Naturalist. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license.
Those interested in the Summer Beach Attendants will work under general supervision to operate the Park Beach Area. Duties include but are not limited to: greeting and assisting the general public, fee collection, kayak rentals, preparation of records, cleaning facilities and other duties as assigned.
Individuals that enjoy working with nature and the environment might enjoy the Summer Park Naturalist positions.
Summer Park Naturalist will work under general supervision to work as an assistant to the Park Naturalist in planning and executing nature and science-based activities, preparation of park literature and related duties as required. Educational background in Natural Resources or Environmental Interpretation preferred, but not required.
In addition, the park will be filled with guests in the upcoming months and to they are looking for part-time Housekeepers. They will work under general supervision to clean lodge rooms and cabins, along with regular janitorial duties and other duties as assigned.
The park is also looking for part-time year-round or seasonal maintenance workers to help with the upkeep of the park. They will work under general supervision to assist in park upkeep and maintenance of facilities, along with other duties as assigned.
During the spring and summer months the park sees many guests wanting to get away for a few days, and they are looking for part-time Lodge Desk Clerks to help accommodate those guests. Desk Clerks will work under general supervision and greet the general public as they arrive at the lodge. They will also assist with taking reservations, checking lodge and cabin guests in and other duties as assigned.
