TYGART LAKE—Join Three Rivers Avian Center as they present Wings of Wonder: WV Birds of Prey at Tygart Lake State Park on Saturday, September 17, from 6:30-7:30 pm.
The event is free, open to the public and great for all ages.
Come meet six native WV Raptor Ambassadors close up, including live owls, falcons, hawks and the center’s bald eagle, Regis.
During the evening, guests will learn about the habitats the birds live in, the foods they eat, their unique abilities and the dangers they face.
Attendees will also be able to pick up pro-active tips for helping West Virginia’s wild bird population and get a chance to ask questions during the award-winning interactive program.
The Three Rivers Avian Center is a private 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to wild bird conservation and to educating and involving people in ecosystem stewardship.
This mission is met through initiatives in veterinary and rehabilitative care, environmental education, research and conservation and species restoration.
The organization was founded in 1990 and is house within a 100-acre facility located in the southern portion of the New River Gorge National River.
Individuals are invited to come check them out at events such as the one being held at Tygart Lake or during their Free Public Tour days, held on the first Saturday of each month from May to October. Tours are performed from 1:00-5:00 p.m.

Guests are invited to meet at the Nature Center lawn and are encouraged to bring something to sit on while they learn about some of the spectacular feathered inhabitants of the state.
