TAYLOR COUNTY—If you’re not busy today, Monday, June 10, head on out to the Tygart Lake State Park Nature Center at 11:00 a.m., for outdoor bowling, followed by a craft at 2:00 p.m. Participants will color a cardinal and learn about the West Virginia state bird while creating a fun cardinal craft.
Then, on Tuesday June 11, at 11:00 a.m. join Park Naturalist Jacob Jackson for nature-based stories in the Nature Cent reading are. This activity will be great for little ones. At 2:00 p.m., get ready for Bocce, the Italian Game. This classic lawn game has been played since the days of the Roman Empire.
The fun will continue on Wednesday, June 12, ar 11:00 a.m., join Jackson for a relaxing morning of Animal Yoga. Participants will learn to stretch their bodies and work their muscles like animals. The at 2:00 p.m., get ready to take a compass course. Participants will learn the basics of shooting a compass bearing, then see if they can use their new skills to complete the course.
Most of the programs will last approximately 20 minutes and are part of the Young People for Parks (YPP), an initiative that provides environmental education to get youth outdoors and exploring nature.
