TYGART LAKE—The warmer weather has residents and guests setting their sights on a season at Tygart Lake, filled with sunshine, cool water and lots of laughs.
The Tygart Lake Marina officially kicked off their season with opening day on Sunday, May 15, allowing boaters to bring their vessels of summertime fun to the lake.
Boat dock renters were invited to bring their speed boats, pontoons and various other forms of floating apparatuses to dock them at the marina, however, gas, electric and water hook-ups were not available on opening day due to recent high waters brought on by rain.
According to officials, those amenities will be made available in the near future.
“We want to thank all of our patrons and dock customers for their patience at this time,” shared Danny and Deanna Williams, owners of Tygart Lake Marina. “We’ll see you at the lake!”
Tygart Lake Marina is currently taking reservations for 2022 Pontoon Rentals and Princess Cruise Boat Private Charters. Please visit www.tygartmarina.com for more information.
Want to enjoy a special day on the lake, taking in the scenic beauty of the area? Give Tygart Lake Cruise’s Princess a try.
The Princess will be setting sail for their Sunday Historic Cruises, held from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
During the cruises, patrons are able to enjoy a leisurely historical tour of Tygart Lake to hear stories about the eleven men who died building the dam, the five communities that are now under water, the Indians who once inhabited the area, the role of the area during the civil war and various stories.
Tickets are $20 per person, and guests five years of age and younger can cruise for free. Tickets are non-refundable.
“Day of cruises are welcome on a first come, first served basis, or you can secure tickets in advance at our website under GET TICKETS,” shared the Princess crew.
Guests are asked to please prepare to board at the Tygart Lake Marina at least 45 minutes prior to departure time, as the boat does not wait for anyone.
Unfortunately, Tygart Adventures was set to welcome residents this past weekend as well, but due to the increased lake levels, officials decided that in the best interest of everyone’s safety, they would postpone opening day.
The new date for a way to enjoy time on the waters of Tygart Lake is set for Friday, May 27.
“We feel that this is the right judgement call to make for the situation. We are reaching out to all those who have made reservations dated prior to the 27th to resolve these changes,” the Tygart Adventures crew shared in a Facebook post. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your understanding.”
The Tygart Adventure Lake features 25 giant inflatables and a sandy beach area with lounge chairs, the perfect spot for family fun this summer.
Following opening day, the adventure lake will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. until the close of lake season on Sept. 6, 2021, so book your trip before it’s too late!
