The Princess set to embark on 2021 maiden voyage for Father's Day

TYGART LAKE— With the COVID-19 pandemic becoming less of a threat every day, residents are optimistic that their summer 2021 plans may be able to commence as usual. And here locally, officials with Tygart Lake Marina are thrilled to once again be offering all of their services to guests, including their popular cruise boat public charters.

Because of concerns surrounding the pandemic, and social distancing guidelines that were in place last boating season, the marina had to make the tough choice to keep their public charter, The Princess, docked.

However, with the state beginning to open back up, representatives from the marina have recently shared that the vessel will once again welcome passengers and take to the majestic waters of Tygart Lake.

The Princess will make its maiden voyage in celebration of Father’s Day, as guests are invited to spend the day celebrating on Tygart Lake.

The special Father’s Day Cruise is slated for Sunday, June 20, with departure set for 2:00 p.m. The historical tour through the waters will conclude at 4:00 p.m.

During their time aboard the ship, guests will hear stories about the eleven men who died building the dam, five communities that are now under water, Indians who once inhabited the area, tales of the civil war and various other stories.

Tickets for the event are $20 for those older than six and can be purchased by visiting Children five and under will be admitted free of charge.

Capacity for the tour will be limited, and guests are asked to self-screen for COVID-19 prior to arrival. Individuals who are showing any symptoms of the illness will not be permitted to board the vessel.

In addition, guests are still encouraged to wear masks and will be asked to maintain six feet social distancing while on the boat, and all attendees must sign a COVID-19 waiver.

Organizers also suggest that riders be prepared to board The Princess 45 minutes in advance.

Then, Tygart  Lake Cruises will be offering an Open Cruise on June 27, at 2:00 p.m. for anyone and everyone to enjoy.

This cruise will mimic the cost of the Father’s Day event, and the same protocols will be in place.
