First responders were called to the scene of a two-vehicle collision involving a Taylor County Sheriff’s Department cruiser, just before 3:45 p.m. on Friday. According to officials, the cruiser was traveling north on U.S. Route 119 North when the driver of a small passenger car attempting to cross both lanes of traffic after exiting the McDonald’s parking lot struck the passenger side of the sheriff’s department vehicle. The impact resulted in the cruiser spinning 180 degrees and coming to a stop in a southward facing direction of the northbound lane. No injuries were reported as a result of the impact, however Sheriff Terry A. Austin revealed that his officer was taken to Grafton City Hospital to undergo standard procedural testing after being involved in an accident. The Grafton Fire Department was called to the scene to aid in traffic control. The Grafton Police Department is investigating.
