TCMS XC hits the ground running

PRUNTYTOWN—In addition to GHS, the TCMS Cross Country teams also participated in two events recently, as they hosted an event on September 4th and similar to GHS, traveled to Mineral Wells on September 7th for the middle school competition at the Chic-Fil-A Invitational.

The Chic-Fil-A meet is a fast course and TCMS had multiple runners set personal records. For the boys’ team, the Knights were led by M.J. Niggemyer with a time of 11:21, followed by McCray Blackwell with a time of 11:26. Rounding out the top five were Harrison Maier (11:34), Owen Shreve (11:48), and Jacob Maier (11:56). Other solid boy’s times included Colson Annon (12:33), Jonathan Maier (13:05), Brayden Weaver (13:06), Oliver Barker (13:33), Greyson Ramezan (13:47), Austin Mayle (13:59), Gabriel Young (14:30), and Landon Brown (14:39).

On the girl’s side, the Knights were led by Emily Viani (12:18) and Kayla Greathouse (13:11), followed by Kelsey Massie (13:17), Kevin Sipes (13:37), Caitlyn Boylen (13:48), Yvonna Knotts (15:20), Ellie Royce (18:57), and River Sipes (12:43).

At the TCMS home meet on September 4th, the Knights’ Emily Viani placed 15th out of 121 runners for the girls while Jacob Maier placed 23rd out of 124 runners for the boys.

TCMS head coach Karey Maier was excited to see many of her runners improving as the season progresses and noted a couple of outstanding performances.

“M.J. Niggemyer was a standout for us at the Chic-Fil-A meet and Emily Viani had an awesome race for us at home,” Maier said. “We’re improving every meet.”

The Knights will be back in action as they head to Bridgeport for a meet on September 14th. That event is scheduled to start at 12:30pm.
