TCMS volleyball keeps close with no. 1 Hawks, wins sets over Bland

GRAFTON —The Taylor County Middle School (TCMS) Lady Knights would travel to the home of the number one Belington Hawks this week, and travel to Weston to take on the R.L. Bland Patriots in conference action.

This week’s game would pit the Lady Knights against the formidable Belington Lady Hawks, as the Lady Knights would be looking for revenge after suffering a loss last week to the Hawks.

The JV would come close to exacting that revenge as they challenged the Lady Hawks to an exciting match upon the backs of Peyton Freeman and Lyllian Townson.

The duo kept the Knights in contention with their play but unfortunately, it wouldn’t be enough to unseat them as they would win the first set 25-23 and second set 25-21 and the match.

The Lady Knight Varsity would drop the first set handley 25-11, but would mount a fierce comeback in the second set to give the Hawks a run for their money on their home turf.

The Varsity Lady Knights would end the close second set 25-23 and the match to the Hawks.

The second game would have the Lady Knights dominating an old foe as their time had come to steal a couple of wins back from a rebellious RL Bland team that defeated the soundly in the first half of the season.

The JV would be the first to exact their revenge as Alyssa Larry, Peyton Freeman and Maddie Fryer would lead the team to a 25-18 and a 25-20 victory over the JV Lady Patriots.

The Varsity Lady Knights would take the floor and easily take the first set from the Patriots as Kenzie Persinger, Kasy Alexander and Alyssa Jackson helped propel them to victory 25-22.

The Knights would drop the second set in a close battle.

TCMS  fought hard to keep the Patriots in check but to no avail as the score settled 25-20.

The third and final set would find the Lady Knights quickly up by ten as they held on to easily win the final set and the match 25-23.

The Lady Knights will play host to Elkins this week.
