BARRACKSVILLE—The Taylor County Middle School softball team headed to Barracksville over the weekend, to play in the State Farm Classic.
The Lady Knights opened their tournament schedule with an 11—0 win over Ritchie County.
The Knights were impressive in the field, as they did not record an error in the contest.
Amber Smith led the Lady Knights’ attack with three hits in the contest, and she also had four RBI’s on the day.
The remaining hits came off the bats of Jordan Niggemyer, Fredique Maloley (2) and Eva Jones.
The TCMS runs were scored by Addie Tucker, Niggemyer, Maloley (3), A. Smith (2), Gracen Purkey, Jones and Anna Stottlemyer.
Maloley was on the mound for TCMS, as she did not allow a run in the three inning game. She recorded two strikeouts in the contest, allowed only two hits and did not walk a single batter.
The next opponent for the Lady Knights was Ripley Middle School.
The Lady Knights struck first with two runs in the first inning, but could not hold on late, as Ritchie added two late runs to come away with a 9—7 win.
Maloley led the way for the Knights with three hits that included two singles and a double.
The rest of the hits came from A. Smith (2), Madison Smith and Jones.
The runs were scored by Tucker, Niggemyer, Maloley (2), A. Smith, M. Smith and Jones.
Maloley once again was the starting pitcher for TCMS, allowing nine runs on nine hits, striking out seven batters and allowed four walks.
With the loss, the Lady Knights’ season will come to an end.
