TCMS Knights Wrestling season begins

TAYLOR COUNTY—The TCMS Knights wrestling squad began their season recently, participating in a 10-team match this past Saturday at South Harrison before returning home to host a match at GHS against Robert L. Bland and Preston.

TCMS head coach Kevin Efaw, who is in his second season at the helm, has ten wrestlers on his squad who have all worked hard to gain valuable experience.

Eighth graders include Brayden Palmer, June Minard, Charles Hoskins, and Autumn Knotts. Seventh grade wrestlers include Jarrett Blackhurst, Javon Vanscoy, Joshua Huff, and Aaron Sayers. Dylan Gutshall and Christian Cox are Efaw’s sixth grader wrestlers.

The Knights, who are down numbers in various weight classes and give up 48 points before each meet begins, have been led by Brayden Palmer. Palmer leads the team this season with a 7-0 record in his 110-lb weight class, with all of his wins coming by pin.

Jude Minard (78) and Jarrett Blackhurst (102) have also been outstanding, accumulating records of 6-1. Five of Blackhurst’s six wins have come by pin.

Other wrestlers with solid wins throughout the season include Autumn Knotts (hwt) with a 5-2 record, Javon Vanscoy (102) with a 6-1 record, and Christian Cox (128) with a 4-3 record.

The Knights will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Buckhannon before returning to TCMS on Tuesday, December 17th to host Westwood and Lincoln.
