TCMS Knights Sports Roundup

PRUNTYTOWN—The Taylor County Middle School Knights have been busy on the court and field lately. Here’s a quick glance at what teams from the school have been up to.

Boys Soccer – The Taylor County boys soccer team visited Hite Field last Saturday, in an afternoon contest with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Knights went down early, but scrambled back in the second half to defeat the Irish 3—2.

The Knights allowed two early goals, but that would be all they would get, as the Knights scored three straight goals.

The first Knight goal was scored by Layne England, when the Irish goalie mishandled the ball, and it found its way into the Irish net.

The next Knight goal was scored by Brayden Palmer off a crossing pass from England. With this goal, the games was tied at two goals apiece.

The game winning goal for the Knights was scored by Landen Hulley, as he dribbled his way into the Irish defense and drilled a shot by the Irish goalie.

In goal for the Knights was Levi Miller, who recorded four saves in the contest.

The Knights played a home contest against Buckhannon on Thursday night.

TCMS Volleyball – The Taylor County Middle School volleyball team won their first match of the season last Wednesday night, when they defeated West Fairmont. The girls won the first game 25—19, and then won the second game 25—9.

The JV Cats also won, as they took two of the three sets.

The girls were in action at home on Wednesday night against West Fairmont. They then traveled to Elkins on Thursday.

The results will be in a future edition of the Mountain Statesman.
