GRAFTON—The Taylor County Middle School softball team opened its 2017 season last Tuesday night as they hosted South Harrison Middle School at the Anna Jarvis Little League field. The Lady Knights held South Harrison scoreless through two innings but in the end South Harrison came away with a 10 to 4 victory.

Leading the way for the Knights offensive attack were Frederique Maloley, Mia Chambers and Katie Tucker. Each girl had one hit apiece for the Lady Knights. The Knights four runs were scored by Haley Perks, Maloley, Eva Jones (pinch running for Chambers) and Tucker.

Chambers was also on the hill for the Lady Knights as she pitched a complete game and recorded 13 strikeouts. On the evening, the right handed pitcher gave up 10 runs on 15 hits and only allowed four walks.

The Lady Knights were back in action Thursday night at Buckhannon and they are also scheduled to play in the West Fairmont Tournament this weekend.
