BUCKHANNON—The Taylor County Middle school soccer teams opened their 2017 regular season last Wednesday night, as they traveled to Buckhannon to take on Buckhannon Middle School.
The Lady Knights played a hard fought game, but in the end fell to Buckhannon 6—0.
In goal for the Lady Knights were Jordan Niggemyer and Carrie Ellen Richards.
The boys team used a first half goal from Colton Sanders to tie Buckhannon 1—1. The assist on the TCMS goal came off the foot of Lane England, as he crossed a ball from the edge of the eighteen.
In goal for the Knights was Levi Miller. Miller recorded nine saves on the night.
The very next night, the Knights headed to Elkins to face Elkins Middle School.
The Lady Knights played better in this contest, but still fell to Elkins 1—0.
The boys team did not fare any better, as they could only manage two shots in the contest, falling to Elkins 3—0. All of Elkins goals came in the second half.
The boys team closed out the week traveling to East Fairmont on Friday night.
The Knights finally got into the winning column, by defeating the Hornets 3—1. The Knights goals were scored by Landen Holley, Adrian Joyce and England.
Earning assists in this contest were Devin Weaver and England. Miller was once again in the goal for the Knights, and he recorded three saves in the contest.
The Knights will be back in action tonight, when they host Bridgeport at McKinney Field. The girls begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by the boys game at 7:30 p.m.
