TCMS JV Volleyball strides toward improvement in busy month of September

PRUNTYTOWN—The Taylor County Middle School Knights junior varsity volleyball team moved into the heart of their 2022 season schedule throughout the course of a busy month of September. The junior varsity Knights tackled their packed September slate head on, riding a rollercoaster of emotions as they competed in several close matches in recent weeks. 

The junior varsity Knights put together possibly their most complete performance on the road against East Fairmont back on Saturday, September 15. The junior varsity Knights outlasted East Fairmont in a dramatic straight set victory. The junior varsity Knights picked up a close win in the first set, 28-26 before closing the game out with a 25-20 win in the second set. The junior varsity Knights showed great resilience in fending off a tough challenge from East Fairmont, holding on for a very hard-earned win. 

Exactly a week later on Saturday, September 22, the junior varsity Knights welcomed Lincoln to Pruntytown. Despite their best attempts to defend their home-court, the junior varsity Knights dropped a close two-set battle with Lincoln. The junior varsity Knights came out a little flat, losing the first set 25-16. While the second set went much better for the junior varsity Knights, the outcome was the same, with Lincoln prevailing in a tight one by a score of 28-26. 

The junior varsity Knights wrapped up an action-packed month of September against Mountaineer Middle School on the road back on Thursday, September 27 The junior varsity Knights got off to a solid start, with both teams playing some very high-level volleyball in the first set. The two teams traded throughout the first set, with a late run from Mountaineer Middle School tipping the scales in their favor, sealing a 25-22 win in the first set. Needing a win to send the second set into a winner-takes-all third set, the junior varsity Knights competed their hearts out, but alas came up short, losing by a final score of 25-15. 

Despite a disappointing loss to cap off a busy month of play, the junior varsity Knights showed that they are continually improving. Throughout the month of September, the junior varsity Knights volleyball team showed that they can come up big in clutch situations, as well as fight through any adversity that a match throws at them. This team is certainly trending in the right direction.
