TCLL to throw first pitch this weekend

TAYLOR COUNTY— Spring is in the air, and for many sports enthusiasts, that means it is time to head back to the field for America’s favorite pastime, baseball.

This weekend marks the start for the 2022 Taylor County Little League (TCLL) season, with opening day slated for Saturday, April 9.

As one of the area’s most explosive youth sports programs, TCLL has garnered enough support and participation to yield 11 teams between three divisions.

Making up the C-Ball division are the Findley Excavating Braves, R&R Services Mariners, Bartlett Funeral Home Orioles and Lisa’s Place Metz, while the Minor League (B division) consists of the Stryker Drilling Pirates, Summers Dairy King Dodgers, Toothman Ford Yankees and Mark Zeck State Farm Phillies.

Major league teams include the Athletics, Royals and Braves.

The Opening Day Ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.

Minor League play between the Pirates and Dodgers will get the day’s contests underway at 12:00 p.m. on the Anna Jarvis baseball field, while the first pitch for C-Ball will also be happening at noon, on the nearby gravel field, with a matchup between the Mariners and Braves.

Following the conclusion of the Pirates and the Dodges, the Yankees and Phillies will take to the diamond in minor league play at 2:00 p.m., with the Orioles and Metz playing the second C-Ball match for the day.

League representatives noted that concessions would be open offering up some old favorites, along with the addition of a few new items.

In addition, 50/50 raffles will be happening throughout the day.

TCLL would like to extend their gratitude to the supporters of the organization including their generous team sponsors and invites the community to join them in celebrating opening day.

Games for Major League will begin on Monday, April 11 with road games that will see the TCLL Braves take on Salem at 6:00 p.m., and Royals against Clarksburg at 7:30 p.m.
