TCAC offering community opportunities to make art

GRAFTON— As the town gears up to celebrate Independence Day, Gallery 62 West, by the Taylor County Arts Council (TCAC) is offering residents, young and old, a couple of opportunities to have fun while getting creative in honor of the holiday.

On Friday, July 2, in correlation with Grafton’s First Friday events, area youths are invited to the gallery’s classroom, beginning at 4:00 p.m., for Kids Craft Time.

Participants will be working with TCAC members and gallery volunteers to make a patriotic windsock in celebration of the Fourth of July, free of charge.

Registration is not required, and those wishing to take part can just drop into the gallery between 4:00-6:00 p.m. on the aforementioned date.

Then, at 6:00 p.m., Gallery 62 West will shift gears and getting colorful, for a Tie Dye T-Shirt Workshop.

Have you wanted to learn the art of creating your own tie-dyed clothing? Well now is your chance!

The workshop will be led by instructor Alyssa Muller. The fee to participate in the class will be $20, which will cover the cost of materials, including the shirt that will be yours to keep.

Registration for the Tie Dye Workshop is required and can be done by calling 304-265-5500. Be sure to have your needed shirt sizes handy when registering.

The event will last for approximately two hours, concluding at 8:00 p.m. and is open to community members and guests of all ages. However, TCAC members recommend that those who wish to tie dye a shirt under the age of ten are assisted by an adult.

Be sure to join the TCAC for some family friendly fun and to create your very own works of art.
