Taylor County reports 2 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the total count to 177

(November 9, 2020 - GRAFTON, WV), Doctor David Bender, County Health Officer today announced that the Grafton-Taylor County Health Department has confirmed Taylor County’s 176th and 177th new positive cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) involving Taylor County residents.

Patients are all adults, with one associated with the Leer Mine outbreak. There was also an out of county person who works at Taylor Health Care Center who has tested positive.

Per DIDE case definition, one positive individual at a residential setting (nursing home) constitutes an outbreak. All staff and residents were tested today, with ongoing retesting to continue. Epidemiological investigation to include contact tracing is currently underway.

This brings Taylor County to a total of 14 active Covid-19 cases.

We remind everyone that we are conducting FREE daily community testing at our mobile drive-thru site at the First Baptist Church of Grafton on US Rt 119, Monday thru Friday from noon to 2pm, with Flu Shots available upon request.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, everyone is urged to follow best health practices as issued by the Governor’s Executive Orders and outlined by the WV Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR).
