TAYLOR COUNTY—The American Cancer Society Relay for Life movement has become the nation’s largest fundraising event to save the lives of those living with cancer.
The group hosts more than 3,500 events annually to support their efforts, and the Relay For Life organization here in Taylor County is determined to do their part to help the cause.
This year Taylor County Relay for Life team, Leer Coal Diggers, has an array of fundraising events planned for the community.
The first of those event is a paint party. Participants will have the opportunity to hand paint a gnome that they will be able to show off in their gardens.
The paint party is slated for Saturday, March 21 at the Taylor County Shrine Club, located at 880 Blueville Drive ,from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
The cost for this event is $25 per person.
Later in the month, the organization will offer a fun filled day of bingo, which will be held on Saturday, March 28.
This event too will be held at the Taylor County Shrine Club, with doors opening promptly at 9:30 a.m., and games beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Participants will have the chance to win a $500 jackpot, and can also try their luck on tips and raffles throughout the day, while enjoying concession foods.
The group did note that children under the age of 18 are not permitted to play bingo, or take part in the raffles and tips.
In addition, the Leer Coal Diggers have been hosting an Eater Candy sale. The sale began on February 24 and runs until March 25.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to order some Easter goodies for a good cause. Individuals may choose from half pound peanut butter, coconut, maple or cherry eggs, priced at $5 each. Chocolate suckers are also available to purchase for only $2 each, and a bag of assorted cholates costs $3.
As always, the Relay for Life of Taylor County is offering sponsorship opportunities.
Sponsorships are obtainable at several different levels including Presenting, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Signature.
Each sponsorship includes different opportunities and recognitions, that are dependent on the level of the sponsorship one chooses. The price range for sponsorships is between $5,000 and $250.
Taylor County’s Relay for Life is slated for June 5. Those interested in helping plan for this year’s relay are welcome to attend the group’s meetings. The next meeting is scheduled for April 6, from 5:30-6:30 p.m., at Espresso Yourself Coffee House on Main Street.
