GRAFTON—The Taylor County Middle School cross country team hosted the Taylor County Invitational last Wednesday night at the West Taylor Elementary School. The Knights welcomed teams from Suncrest, East Fairmont, West Fairmont, Belington, South, Trinity, Bridgeport, Buckhannon, Philippi and Washington Irving.
The Lady Knights varsity team had a solid meet finishing in 9th place while the boys ran to a 6th place finish.
The top runner for the Lady Knights was Kendra Rogucki who finished in 21st place while teammate Avrie Kelley finished 22nd. The remaining runs included Sierra Walls (40th), Chloe Saltis (56th), Jada Johnson (59th), Maddie Moats (62nd) and Kelsey Massie (63rd).
The top runner for the varsity boys was Ryan Maier as he finished the course in 9th place. The remaining Knight runners were Matthew Hellmondollar (32nd), JT Veltri (35), Cayden Boylen (40th), James Hellmondollar (53rd), Blake Copeland (55th) and Gabriel Spino (60th).
The JV girls were also in action as they placed 7th in their division.
The top JV runner for the girls was River Sipes who finished 34th followed by Alyssa Rogucki in 38th place. The other runners included Caitlyn Boylen (87th), Kaitlyn Saltis (91st), Ellie Royce (92nd), Miranda Sharp (97th) and Launa Walls (99th).
The JV boys were led by Dustin Keener who finished in 48th place and Harrison Maier who placed 53rd. The remaining TCMS athletes were Aiden Sheme (59th), Jacob Maier (62nd), Landon Brown (72nd), Elias Rubenstein (74th) and Gavin Royce (83rd).
The cross country team will be back in action on Tuesday as they compete in the Doddridge Invitational at 5:45.
