Support local baseball players at opening day

GRAFTON—  It is finally time to play ball! The 2021 Taylor County Little League season kicks off today, with an opening day ceremony to be held at 11:30 a.m.

Following the ceremony, the Braves and Orioles (coach pitch) will be the first to take to the field at 12:00 p.m.

Minor league teams the Yankees and the Phillies will match up at 2:00 p.m., and rounding out the day will be the major league Athletic and Royals, with the first pitch slated for 6:00 p.m.

Earlier in the month, generous volunteers rallied together for the league’s cleanup day to prepare their field and stock the concession stand for this special day.

With the diamond prepped and ready, players well practiced and fans eager to fill the stands once more, officials are hoping for a successful opening day, and have provided little league supporters with the opportunity to win some special prizes.

Throughout opening day the league will be selling 50/50 tickets in addition to offering raffle tickets for the chance to take home a Yeti Tundra 35 cooler with two matching folding chairs; the perfect combination for a day at the ball field.

The prize is valued at $300, and the cost to enter to win is $5 per ticket.

The Yeti drawing will take place at the top of the fifth inning of the major league game, and you do not have to be present to win.

“Please consider coming out and supporting your local baseball players,” TCLL president Tim Hussion suggested.
