Spirit of Animals Rescue seeking assistance from the community

GRAFTON—An organization with a mission to keep four-legged friends out of the shelters, healthier and happier is in need of assistance from the community.

The Spirit of Animals Rescue, a 501(c)3 located here in Grafton, has been working to rescue, rehabilitate and foster fur babies to keep them from ending up in local animal shelters. The group also works to decrease the population of unwanted animals through spay and neuter initiatives and holds adoption events for their animals to find their “furever” homes.

At the beginning of August, the organization had taken in 90 cats and one dog since the beginning of the year. In addition, they were able to perform over 100 spay and neuter operations on dogs and cats.

In addition to those smaller surgeries, The Spirit of Animals Rescue was also able to assist with five large surgeries, including two leg amputations, one eye enucleation and two polyp removals.

The care that is provided through the organization is done so through the generosity of donors, fosters and individuals who are willing to step up and help in any way possible.

Now the organization needs your help to ensure that the bellies of their four-legged friends stay full this month.

The Spirit of Animals Rescue is seeking assistance from the community to help provide bags of kitten chow this month. They have revealed that they will need 48 bags to keep the little felines fed.

“We are out of kitten chow and are in desperate need,” said Nicole McLaughlin, Spirit of Animals Rescue President. “It doesn’t matter what size bag of kitten chow we just need it! We go through approximately six bags every three to four days.”

Those wishing to drop food off locally may do so at 516 West Main Street, Grafton.

The organization has also created an Amazon Wishlist, which can be accessed by visiting https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2P1DOQUVRQCPW?ref_=wl_share&fbclid=IwAR33n0EuBaJD5s9Z3OH4uxSqKsIr8pMjN7ZJK3zBPG89hkKSofkURx-TvCU.

A link to the Wishlist may be found on the organization’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/savingthefurbabes.

The Spirit of Animals Rescue is also taking part in a spay and neuter day through the Fix’em Clinic. They are in need of donations to help cover the cost of the procedures for the animals.

Those wishing to donate may do so by calling the clinic at 866-349-3698.

“Please let them know that you would like to contribute on our behalf,” McLaughlin noted.

Additionally, monetary donations may be made to the organization via PayPal at [email protected].
