Sonya A. Moore-Coats

Sonya A. Moore-Coats, 55, of Flemington, WV, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

She was born in Clarksburg on October 20, 1964, the only daughter of James E. “Jim” and Virginia Paulette Knotts of Flemington.

Sonya is survived by her three sons: Pastor Nathaniel James Moore and wife Melissa of Clarksburg, Joshua D. Coats and wife Tamara serving in the United States Army stationed in Germany, and Jordan D. Coats and companion Shianne Nelson serving in the United States Army stationed Kentucky; seven grandchildren: Syncere Coats, Kinsley Coats, Dakota Linkous, Sierra Lange, Isabella Jenkins, Savannah Jenkins, and Naomi Billups; and two great-grandchildren: Bryson Linkous and Olivia Lange.  Also surviving are many extended family, lots of friends, and so many special friends.

Sonya was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Coats, and a special cousin that was like a brother, Ricky Fleming.

Sonya was a graduate of Flemington High School Class of 1982.  She was the office manager for Fly Rod Chronicles with Curtis Fleming, something she loved doing and being a part of.  Above all Sonya loved Jesus, her church, and helping others.  She was always helping whether it was putting things together for her church at Long Run Fellowship Church, working on things for her job, or planning family gatherings.  She had a heart for those going through addiction recovery and put together a recovery group to help those in need.  She dearly loved her sons and grandchildren and was always known as “Ya-Ya” to the many children that loved her.  Her memory and legacy of love for others will always live on.

Because of the current Covid-19 pandemic and out of concern and safety for others, all services will be private.

Interment will be in the Simpson Cemetery.

Online condolences are encouraged, www.maylefuneralhome.com.

The Bradley J. Mayle Funeral Home is honored to serve the Moore-Coats Family during this time.
