GRAFTON—Some big cases were heard in Taylor County Circuit Court recently, and Judge Alan D. Moats handed down sentences in them.
Marcus Curtis Lewis, 58, who was charged with an infant’s death approximately three years ago, entered an Alford plea to involuntary manslaughter. Prosecuting Attorney John Bord filed, by way of information, a felony child neglect creating risk of death or serious injury charge, and Lewis pleaded guilty to that charge, as well.
According to court testimony, in October 2013, Lewis was alone with a two month old baby, and reported that the baby stopped eating somewhere around 9:00 p.m. Later that night, the baby was found unresponsive and taken to the hospital where it was pronounced dead around 3:20 a.m.
