GRAFTON—Sign-up today, to take part in the 42nd Annual Grafton Five Mile Run on Sunday, March 19.
The race is being sponsored by Grafton City Hospital and Tygart Valley Rehab and Fitness.
The Grafton High School track team will be assisting with the race, and all proceeds from the event will go toward the purchase of a new high jump mat for the team.
The event will kick off with a kids’ half-mile run at 1:30 p.m. Registration to participate in this event is $3 and does not include a race t-shirt. All finishers will receive an award.
After the kids’ run wraps up, the five-mile run, which will begin and end at Grafton High School, as well as a two-mile walk, will begin at approximately 2:00 p.m.
Awards for the top two overall male and female finishers of the two-mile walk, and the top three male and female finishers of the five-mile run will be presented.
The entry fee for these two events is $15, for those who register before March 13. The cost to register on race day will be $20.
Short-sleeved race day t-shirts, designed by Michael Shaffer and Black Bear Customs, are guaranteed to the first 50 pre-registered runners. However, those who wait until race day to register will not be guaranteed a t-shirt.
According to the registration form, restrooms and changing facilities will be available, and water stations will be setup at the two and four-mile markers.
At the conclusion of the race, refreshments will be offered at the Clair Bee Field House at GHS, and an awards ceremony will take place.
