Shreve and Taylor lead Lady Bearcats to easy victory

GRAFTON — The GHS Lady Bearcats volleyball team took on the Heritage Christian Patriots this past Tuesday at home.

 The Lady Bearcats easily secured the win over a much less experienced Patriots team. 

Payton Shreve led Grafton with a high of 5 aces, 15 kills and 2 blocks. 

Aniesa Taylor contributed 5 aces, and 3 kills and setter Sydney Friend added 20 assists.  

The Lady Bearcats were also in tournament action this week as they travelled to Preston County to attend the Tri-Match. 

The Lady Bearcats would face an opening loss to a solid Lady Liberty team 0-2, with Shreve once again leading the team with 8 kills, 1 ace and 4 blocks. 

Taylor would pound in 3 aces and 3 kills with Friend logging 11 assists. 

The second match of the Tri-Match would see the Lady Bearcats facing off against the home Preston County squad. 

The Lady Bearcats put up a dominate performance as the bench also contributed heavily to this match. 

Shreve would lead the pack with 5 aces, 15 kills, and 3 blocks. Taylor put up 1 ace and 3 kills. Wellman had 2 aces, 3 kills and 1 block along with Jade Hall’s 2 aces and an ace for Gracen Purkey.

The GHS Lady Bearcats will be back in action in another Tri-Match on September 15, at home against Lincoln and Phillip Barbour.
