Show your support of a local business taking part in a national competition

GRAFTON—A local business needs your help to expand its offerings, and it’s as simple as a few clicks of the mouse.

Tom and Donna Hart of Espresso Yourself Coffee House, Arts and Treasures and Buffalo Flats Artists Association have recently thrown their hats into the FedEx Small Business Grant Contest.

The grant, that is of course is sponsored by FedEx, has some amazing prizes.  The lucky winner of the Grand Prize will receive $50,000, plus $7,500 in FedEx Office® print and business services.

There is also a Silver Prize, awarded to one winner, consisting of $30,000, plus $5,000 in FedEx Office print and business services, and the Bronze prize of $15,000, plus $1,000 in FedEx Office print and business services, that will be awarded to eight winners.

To enter the contest, the Harts had to write a short profile of their story and offerings, upload photos and a logo and create a one-minute video about their business. The final step of the process involves getting the word out to the public, and that’s where the public comes in to help.

To create everything that they needed for the contest, the Harts went to the folks that know best – their public.  They asked friends and customers to participate in a think tank to help them tell the true story of their business.

Over the course of many meetings and get togethers, the group of friends and customers came together and produced an amazing finished product.  There are many local faces that appear in the contest video to help the Harts plight.

“With the help of our customers and friends, we were able to put together our presentation.  We are very excited about being in the contest, and we are excited that our people helped us tell the true story of our business and our vision for the future,” said Tom Hart of the process.

The Harts say that if they win, their plan is to expand on Buffalo Flats Artist Association and change up Arts and Treasures a bit.

“Our plans are to further expand our operation so that artists can come in and create.  While they are creating, the public can come in and see their process.  Once they have created the artwork, we can then transfer it over to our retail space and they will have a market for it.  We want this to not only help us, but to better our community,” explained Tom Hart

The link to support this local community business is available on the FedEx webpage. Simply visit and type in Espresso Yourself Coffee House, or search through the WV businesses listed.

Individuals may also find the link on the Espresso Yourself Coffee House and All Aboard Grafton Facebook pages.

The Harts ask that individuals please support them and vote, share and vote again.  Voters can cast their ballot once every 24 hours up until April 1.
