Shirley Mary Johnson, 81, of Flemington, WV, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the United Hospital Center, in Bridgeport.
She was born on April 9, 1936, a daughter of the late Ida Mary O’Neal.
Shirley grew up in Carolina, WV and was raised by her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Joshua O’Neal.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Luther “Brownie” Johnson on March 28, 1999 after 41 years of marriage.
Mrs. Johnson retired form Philips Lighting in Fairmont in May of 1996, after 25 years of service. She was a life member of Local 627. After her retirement she worked for Kroger in Clarksburg for several years.
Shirley is survived by one sister, Virdel Smith of Forth Washington, MD; and two nephews: Bryant Smith of MD, and Zance Smith of NC; as well as many friends and cousins.
Mrs. Johnson was an honorary member of the Taylor County Emergency Squad, the Flemington Days Fair and Festival Committee, and the Taylor County Seniors Citizens-Flemington Center. Shirley never met a stranger, and loved meeting new people and making friends wherever she went. She also loved cooking when she was able.
Family and friends will be received at the Bradley J. Mayle Funeral Home, in Flemington, WV, on Friday, April 6, 2018, from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow at the Flemington I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
